Bode Miller to miss entire Alpine season

Are Bode Miller’s chances of defending his super combined gold medal at next year’s Sochi Olympics dwindling?

The U.S. Alpine skiing star, who has been off the slopes since having his left knee surgically repaired a year ago, announced this week that he will take the rest of the season off to continue his rehab. It’s the first time since 1997 – his first year on the World Cup circuit – that Miller has missed an entire season.

Miller, who has kept himself occupied by playing golf (and accidentally hitting his wife in the eye with a golf ball) and selling his yacht, said the decision was “easy for me when I look at my opportunity next year.”

The 35-year-old Miller married beach volleyball player Morgan Beck in October and in August, the couple is due to have its first child together.

Miller won a pair of silver medals at the 2002 Olympics but came up empty in 2006. At the Vancouver Games, he won the super combined, took second in the super-G and placed third in the downhill.

Will the combined factors of his age and knee issue lead to a failed bid at earning a medal in Sochi?

Usain Bolt wants you to get into the Christmas spirit.

A video published on Bolt’s social media Wednesday morning shows a two-minute music video starring Bolt, with an entourage including backup singers. It’s titled, “Gold. Gold. Gold. Platinum.”

Though Bolt is mouthing words, unfortunately a different voice is speaking melodious lyrics such as this:

“I see the holiday lights in the sky
They shine so bright, so bright, I just want to cry
My spirit’s lifted so way up high
I feel so gifted, I feel so gifted
Because I’m run, run, running
I’m running for Christmas
And I’m sprint, sprint, sprinting
Sprinting through my wish list”

Bolt teased this video in an Instagram on Monday, but no singing means he must continue to be judged primarily off of his Queen and Kings of Leon performances at recent Oktoberfest visits in Munich.

Michael Phelps brandishes weapons in a trailer for the upcoming video game, “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare,” which is to come out Nov. 4.

Phelps, an avid Call of Duty player, filmed his spot after the Rio Olympics in Long Beach, Calif., according to reports. Actor Danny McBride is also in the 90-second video.

“We were in full getup and full armor,” Phelps said, according to Time magazine. “Where we were shooting was kind of wild. Danny and I were just playing off each other, talking trash. It was really tough to keep a straight face with him just firing off super funny comments left and right. It was fun.”
