If you’re still looking for accommodations at the Sochi Olympics, how does a cruise ship sound?
Seven cruise liners with capacities of 1,000 people each will be used as hotels for the entirety of the Games, continuing a trend set with the Sydney, Athens and London Olympics, according to RIA Novosti.
“Four of the liners will be docked in the Cruise Harbour of the Bolshoi Sochi Port, and three more at the Sochi Imeretinsky Port,” official Sergei Voitovich said, according to the report. “The ships will have three- to five-star ratings. Some of them, including cruise liners Princess Maria and Princess Anastasia, are currently serving the international St. Petersburg-Helsinki-Tallinn (Estonia)-Stockholm route.”
Voitovich said nightly rates will range from 4,300 rubles ($130) for a three-star double cabin (breakfast included) to 12,500 rubles ($382) for a five-star suite. It’s not expected for visitors to need more than an hour to get to venues from the ships.
