Some 14,000 torches for the Sochi Olympic torch relay are being produced at a machine engineering plant normally used to make ballistic rockets for submarines and parts of space rockets.

A video shows scenes of workers in white lab coats drilling away in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk in a report on the International Business Times website.

The deadline to create all of the torches is Sept. 29, according to the report. The torch relay will run from Oct. 7 to Feb. 7, the day of the opening ceremony.

The torch relay, the longest in Olympic history according to organizers, is set to start and finish in Sochi, include 14,000 torch bearers and travel 40,000 miles via car, train and even reindeer sleigh.

The torches are reportedly being made to withstand temperatures ranging from minus-40 degrees to 104 degrees Farenheit.
