The Sochi Olympics are expected to include more than 2,500 athletes.
Samsung hopes they’re all carrying smartphones.
The Galaxy Note 3 was named the official phone of the Games on Tuesday.
The IOC will provide Samsung GALAXY Note 3, the official Olympic phone, to all Sochi 2014 athletes to enjoy, capture and share their Olympic Games experience in a smarter way through innovative technology.
Samsung is sponsoring more than 80 Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls from around the world, including Russian hockey star Evgeni Malkin, Austrian Olympic ski jumping champion Gregor Schlierenzauer and Italian luge legend Armin Zoeggeler.
“I can’t wait to share my Sochi experience on my new Galaxy Note 3,” Zoeggeler said, according to a press release. “I’ve got a lot of friends and family who want to see the Olympic Games through my eyes.”
Hopefully, Zoeggeler, a five-time Olympian, is aware of the International Olympic Committee’s social media and Internet posting guidelines.
