Ryan Lochte returns to pool, talks about fan incident

Ryan Lochte

Ryan Lochte is swimming again, a little over one month after tearing an MCL and spraining an ACL when he said a fan ran into him.

He plans to be “back in full swing” after Christmas, according to NBC Charlotte. A November report said he would resume training in February.

“I feel like a little kid trying to learn how to swim again,” Lochte told NBC Charlotte. “The past month, it’s been hard for me. I had a lot of doubt thinking that I wasn’t going to get back to my normal self.”

The 11-time Olympic medalist tore his left MCL and sprained his ACL after a teenage girl ran to him, he caught her and they both fell on Nov. 2. His knee hit a curb, according to Lochte’s publicist.

“The improvement that I’ve had in my physical therapy, it’s given me a little confidence that, you know what, I might be all right.”

Does he forgive the fan who injured him?

“Of course,” he said. “After we fell down, I got up, I was like, ‘Next time, just ask me. I’ll take a picture with you any time.'”
