A men’s World Cup downhill event in St. Moritz, Switzerland (pictured), and a women’s World Cup giant slalom race in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia were both called off today due to adverse weather conditions.
In St. Moritz, heavy fog forced organizers to make the decision to call off the race there, while rain and fog following a day of heavy snowfall caused the cancellation in Slovenia.
Races set for Sunday in both St. Moritz (men’s giant slalom) and Slovenia (women’s slalom) are currently still on at this time. Today’s women’s GS event was delayed by half an hour according to the Associated Press but conditions failed to improve.
As for the men’s downhill race, the start was postponed multiple times and was ultimately pushed back almost two and a half hours before the decision was made to cancel.
