Australian snowboarder Torah Bright, one of the top international contenders that advanced today to Sunday’s Olympic slopestyle final, has started on what will be a very busy Sochi Olympics for her.
In addition to competing in slopestyle, Bright will be out to defend her halfpipe gold from Vancouver four years ago and will also compete in the snowboard cross, which she qualified for after other countries gave up their quota places.
She is the first snowboarder in Winter Olympics history to compete in three different disciplines, and we can thank her brother – and snowboarding coach – Ben for convincing her to go for the triple, which stands as one of the bigger snowboarding storylines in Sochi.
“More than anything, it’s about sharing the sport I love with the world,” she said in a recent news release about it. “This has been a journey of exploring what is possible for me on my snowboard and challenging myself like never before.”
