Nordic combined competitor Todd Lodwick told TODAY about the “personal moment” that came after learning that he would be the U.S. flag bearer at the Olympic opening ceremony.
“I got in touch with my daughter Charlie,’’ Lodwick said. “She’s eight (years old), and she was ecstatic. I got my mom and dad on the phone and told them out loud on speaker phone. For them to hear that, they flipped out and went down to the school, and I got to talk to my daughter.”
Indeed, it seems that this was a special honor, even for an athlete who is set for his U.S.-record sixth Olympics.
