According to Russo, Poile wasn’t even on the bench at the time of the incident — he was in the tunnel leading to the bench area, and was struck when an errant Shea Weber pass ricocheted into Poile’s face.
We’ll monitor the situation and provide updates when available. Poile, 63, is set to travel to Sochi with the American team when the NHL Olympic break begins this weekend.
