American speed skater Shani Davis looks to beef up his gold medal resume in Sochi, but he’s not the only star in the sport who might be thinking about his legacy in 2014. Sven Kramer hopes to bolster his outstanding career by taking gold once more in the 5,000m on Saturday, which begins at 6:30 a.m. ET.
Kramer has four Olympic medals to his name. That includes two from Vancouver, with a gold in this event. He also won silver in the 5,000m back in 2006.
Americans Jonathan Kuck, Patrick Meek and Emery Lehman are the underdog Americans, as Jorrit Bergman and Denis Yuskov stand out as other favorites. Yuskov should be considered a legitimate threat, as the Russian should receive some serious crowd support.
