When it comes to women’s hockey, it’s basically America and Canada (and a little more Canada and America). The odds still favor such a collision course, but Finland hopes to remind sports fans that ice hockey is supposed to be an unpredictable sport. In other words, they hope to beat the U.S. (again) as women’s hockey kicks off at 3 a.m. ET.
If you want to put a face on Finland’s threat, look to goalie Noora Raty, who was profiled here. She frustrated the United States with a sterling 58-save performance as the Finns won a November game 3-1.
Amanda Kessel hopes to erase that memory as she plays in first Olympic games just days before her brother Phil represents the United States for a second time.
