Setting the stage for today’s medal battle in men’s luge

Defending Olympic champion Felix Loch and the ageless Russian, Albert Demtschenko, are your current 1-2 in men’s luge after yesterday’s first day of competition at the Sanki Sliding Center. The final two runs come later this morning.

Loch posted the second-fastest run in Heat 1 behind Demtschenko, but the two flip-flopped positions in Heat 2 and Loch now holds the overall lead on aggregate time.

As for Team USA, Chris Mazdzer (pictured) currently leads them in 13th place overall – and it sounds like we’ll see him push even harder this morning.

“I would say I was a little conservative [yesterday]…,” Mazdzer said according to USA Luge. “This Olympic race should be all or nothing. I think I have to go a little less conservative…and see what happens.”
