The U.S. women’s ice hockey team dominated again on Monday, and the score presented a more accurate reflection of that reality this time around. They beat Switzerland 9-0 in another impressive performance.
Amanda Kessel and Kendall Coyne starred in the game, generating four-points apiece (two goals, two assists each) and matching +4 ratings. One could argue that Coyne might have had the best performance of all, as she fired a team-leading eight shots on goal. Switzerland only managed 10 overall.
Obviously, Molly Schaus didn’t really get tested very often in grabbing an easy shutout. It’s unclear if head coach Katey Stone was able to compile any useful information in these past two games regarding which goalie she should turn to as the U.S. gears up for what could be a fascinating first game against Canada.
The United States began with a 5-0 lead in the first period and cruised to victory after that.
