U.S. Olympic Committee CEO discusses Sochi Olympics with TODAY

U.S. Olympic Committee CEO Scott Blackmun believes that Team USA is looking good early on at the Sochi Olympics.

This morning, Blackmun visited Matt Lauer on the TODAY Show to discuss the Americans’ opening efforts so far in Russia. So far, the USOC’s top man is pleased.

“It’s going almost exactly as we expected,” he told Lauer. “We’ve won some medals we weren’t sure we were going to win, and we didn’t win some that we hoped we might.

“On an overall basis, we’re right where we need to be.”

Blackmun also talked about Bode Miller regrouping after his men’s downhill struggles yesterday, the athletes’ mixed opinions on some of the Sochi courses, and the possibility of the U.S. bidding to bring the Olympics back Stateside for 2024.
