One of the more unique aspects of snowboarding culture is the vernacular that’s used by those who partake in the sport.
But a particular phrase – “spoice” – could be making inroads into the mainstream after Sage Kotsenburg and Jamie Anderson (pictured) of the U.S. became the inaugural Olympic slopestyle champions this past weekend.
Of course, that’s not the only bit of snowboarding slang that can be mystifying to those just starting to follow along.
Luckily, Kotsenburg and Anderson dropped by the TODAY Show this morning to help Al Roker brush up on the language of the shredders.
And if you’d like to brush up on that yourself, head over to NBCOlympics.com to watch the clip.
