U.S. skier Julia Mancuso aims for her fourth Olympic medal on Monday as she takes a substantial .47 hundredths of a second lead into the slalom portion of the super-combined, which begins at 6 a.m. ET.
She’ll face plenty of potential usurpers in the slalom half.
Quite a few contenders are a reasonable distance behind her after the downhill run. Lara Gut came in second, Tina Maze is at third, Anna Fenninger in fourth and favorite Maria Hoefl-Riesch at fifth.
It sounds like a little trash talking began before the event:
"Get ready for some slalom." @tinamaze to @JuliaMancuso. Jules leading SC medal event by .47 after downhill. "Game on," says Super Jules.
