Finnish women’s hockey goalie Noora Raty played so well at times that she might have inspired the question, “How would she fare against male shooters?” It sounds like she was left wondering the same thing after the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Agence France-Presse reports that Raty announced her retirement from women’s hockey, but she’s not ready to give up the sport altogether. Instead, she’s hoping to catch on with a lower division men’s team in Finland.
“If I get to play in the men’s league I will continue but I won’t continue with women’s hockey,” Raty said.
That could be quite the journey for Raty, but women have dabbled in the men’s game before. Just observe the story of Manon Rheaume, a (then) 20-year-old female netminder who played in an exhibition game for the Tampa Bay Lightning in 1992.
