Toronto mayor Rob Ford had two regrettable moments Wednesday, voting against city council motions to congratulate Canadian Olympians and Paralympians and name a street after Nelson Mandela.
He was the sole “no” vote in both cases but said he erred and asked for re-votes (he was denied).
“I guess I pushed the wrong button,” Ford said, according to Canadian reports. “Of course I support Nelson Mandela — I was the one who wished him a happy birthday … and the Olympic athletes, of course I do.”
Ford is running for re-election in October.
