Jamaican Olympic and World sprint champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce withdrew from the 200m at Saturday’s Adidas Grand Prix Diamond League meet, citing injury.
“We’re sorry to report that Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, working to regain fitness after a minor injury this season, has withdrawn from the meet,” the meet said in a statement.
Fraser-Pryce, who swept the 100m, 200m and 4x100m at the 2013 World Championships, said she had a left leg problem last week. She finished in eighth place in consecutive Diamond League meets in Eugene, Ore., and Rome the last two weeks.
“Yes, I can confirm I will not be competing in The Adidas Meet,” was posted on Fraser-Pryce’s Facebook account Tuesday. “I don’t like disappointing fans but like you all agree, I cannot run them all when I’m not at my best.”
