Former 100m world record holder Asafa Powell tied for third in 10.30 seconds in his first 100m race in more than one year, an absence due to failing a drug test in June 2013.
Powell and fellow Jamaican Olympic medalist Sherone Simpson ran in Lucerne, Switzerland, on Tuesday after their doping suspensions were reduced Monday. They were cleared to compete immediately by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Simpson was last in her 100m race, clocking 11.57 seconds.
Powell, 31, first broke the 100m world record in 2005, running 9.77 seconds, and got it as low as 9.74 in 2007 before Usain Bolt took the record in 2008.
Powell’s best individual Olympic finish was fifth in 2004 and 2008. He won two World Championships 100m bronze medals.
