Olympic bronze medalist figure skater Carolina Kostner has been called for hearing for a second time by the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) during an investigation into doping by an ex-boyfriend, Olympic champion race walker Alex Schwazer.
The hearing is Friday, CONI said. Kostner’s agent said she will attend, according to The Associated Press.
Kostner did not show up for an initial hearing last Friday concerning the investigation. Her lawyer e-mailed before the hearing to say Kostner would skip it.
The 2008 Olympic champion Schwazer tested positive for EPO in 2012, was excluded from the London Olympics and banned for four years. Kostner was to be asked about potentially being complicit in Schwazer’s doping when they were together.
Kostner, 27 and the second-oldest women’s figure skating medalist since 1928, previously announced she is sitting out the 2014-15 season. Kostner also won bronze at the World Championships in March.
