Indian boxer Laishram Sarita Devi refused to let an official drape a bronze medal over her neck at the Asian Games on Wednesday, protesting the judging from a semifinal defeat to a South Korean in Incheon, South Korea.
The weeping woman instead held the medal in her hand. She later walked over to South Korean Park Ji-na, who beat her in the semifinal, and draped her bronze medal on Park who had won silver. Sarita walked back to her podium place.
Park then walked over to Sarita and tried to give her medal back. Sarita refused, so Park placed the medal on the podium while the Chinese anthem played for the gold medalist.
Sarita left without the medal, according to Reuters.
