Eight members of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team will return to Lake Placid, N.Y., next spring to take part in a fantasy camp.
Captain Mike Eruzione, Neal Broten, Dave Christian, John Harrington, Steve Janaszak, Ken Morrow, Mike Ramsey and Buzz Schneider will be at the “Miracle on Ice Fantasy Camp” from March 29-April 2.
Activities will be held at Herb Brooks Arena, where the U.S. stunned the Soviet Union and beat Finland to win gold.
“It’d be nice for people to come up there to experience Lake Placid – it’s such a great little place and such a big part of our lives,” Eruzione said in a press release. “I think it will also be terrific for some of us to get together. This will be great for us to kick back and have some fun in a place that was special to us, and over the years, we’ve realized it’s special to a lot of people in this country.”
Eruzione hopes the entire team, minus the late Bob Suter, can get together in Lake Placid soon. The full 20-man roster gathered for the last time at coach Herb Brooks‘ funeral in 2003.
The fantasy camp costs $5,495 per person. It includes tournament games, a bobsled ride, apparel including replica 1980 U.S. Olympic team jerseys and storytelling from 35 years ago.
