USA Swimming announced its 47-member team for the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, Russia, on Thursday.
It does not include Michael Phelps, who withdrew from the biggest meet before the Rio 2016 Olympics after his September arrest on DUI charges.
The roster is made up of the top performers from the U.S. Championships and Pan Pacific Championships in August. The leading swimmers include Katie Ledecky, who broke 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle world records this year. Also, Missy Franklin, who won a record six gold medals at the 2013 World Championships.
Ryan Lochte, an 11-time Olympic medalist, leads the men.
The competition in Kazan (Aug. 2-9) should be tough, given Phelps was the only U.S. man to swim the fastest time in the world in an Olympic event this year (100m butterfly). Ledecky was the only woman to do so (400m, 800m freestyles).

USA Swimming also named its team for the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto (July 14-18, roster here). That includes 12-time Olympic medalist Natalie Coughlin, Allison Schmitt and Cullen Jones, who all did not qualify for the World Championships.
The U.S. roster for the 2015 World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea, is here.
