Katie Ledecky is entered in three mixed-gender races at a Delaware meet this weekend.
Ledecky, who broke world records in the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyles this year, is entered in the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyles and the 400-yard individual medley, which happen to be mixed races, at the First State Cup at the University of Delaware on Saturday and Sunday.
Ledecky is joined by other women on the psych sheets. The top seeds in the races include some of her male training partners at the Nations Capital Swim Club. The meet swimmers are mostly teenagers.
Ledecky’s world record times have been compared to men’s results in the same distances. Among the many notes, she swam a faster 1500m free at the Pan Pacific Championships in August than Ryan Lochte did at the 2004 U.S. Olympic trials.
