Lindsey Vonn is back in action at the World Championships super combined slalom, live on NBCSN and NBC Sports Live Extra on Monday.
Vonn, who won bronze in the super-G and finished fifth in the downhill in Beaver Creek, Colo., last week, will take a competition slalom run for the first time in more than two years. Her medal chances are not great after she was seventh fastest in the morning downhill run.
Instead, Slovenian Tina Maze is the gold medal favorite, leading going into the slalom. Maze, the downhill champion and super-G runner-up last week, could this week become the first woman to win five individual medals at a single World Championships.
Austrians Nicole Hosp, Michaela Kirchgasser and Kathrin Zettel are Maze’s biggest challengers going into Monday afternoon’s slalom run.
American Julia Mancuso, who won super combined medals at the last two Olympics, was 17th in the downhill run and is unlikely to factor into the medals. (full downhill results here)
