Filmmakers began accompanying U.S. Paralympic sledge hockey hopefuls in September 2013. Turns out, they were starting on a road to a gold medal.

“Ice Warriors” documents the U.S.’ journey to become the first nation to repeat as Paralympic sledge hockey champion in Sochi last March.

The film goes not only on the ice and in competitions with the players but also behind the scenes, in the locker rooms and the Paralympians’ homes.

The stories include a 15-year-old debuting on the team and four wounded warriors, veterans injured serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Watch “Ice Warriors” on NBCSN on Tuesday at 10:45 p.m. ET. For more on the film, click here.
