Ronda Rousey should scare men’s fighters, Jay Glazer says (video)

Ronda Rousey

MMA expert Jay Glazer called Ronda Rousey “a dynasty” in an interview on The Dan Patrick Show on Monday.

“She’s unlike any other fighter out there,” Glazer said. “Man, woman, doesn’t matter, she is about as slick as you possibly get. … As long as she puts your hands on you, she’s like an anaconda.”

Rousey, a 2008 Olympic judo bronze medalist, beat Cat Zingano in 14 seconds at UFC 184 on Saturday night, the quickest title fight in UFC history. The bantamweight champion is 11-0 since turning pro after the 2008 Olympics, finishing 10 of those victories in the first round.

Is her dominance good for the sport?

“When Mike Tyson was fighting, and we all saw him knock someone out inside of 30 seconds, we all went, oh my god this is unbelievable,” Glazer said. “Now people look at Ronda differently [than Tyson]. I don’t get why.”

Glazer didn’t think a commission would ever allow Rousey to enter an octagon against a man, which is a good thing for many men’s fighters.

“Half the dudes out there, they should be grateful,” Glazer said.

Most will next see Rousey appearing in two films this spring, along with the expected release of her book. Her next fight hasn’t been announced.
