Olympic champions Ryan Lochte and Missy Franklin lead the U.S. roster for Duel in the Pool, a Ryder cup-style swimming competition pitting the U.S. against European all-stars, in Indianapolis from Dec. 11-12.
The U.S. team also includes individual Olympic champions Natalie Coughlin, Nathan Adrian, Tyler Clary and Matt Grevers. Neither Michael Phelps nor Katie Ledecky are on the team. The full roster is here.
The European roster is expected to be announced next week, according to USA Swimming.
The Duel in the Pool has been held in odd-numbered years since 2003. The first three editions were U.S.-Australia battles. The last three were U.S. vs. Europe.
The U.S. won all six previous Duels in the Pool. The first five were taken comfortably, but the most recent, in December 2013, came down to a tiebreaker mixed medley relay.
That edition, in Glasgow, marked the last time Ledecky looked human in a pool. She made the podium once, a second place, while feeling under the weather.
In 2013, the meet did not include Lochte, Franklin or Phelps. Franklin and Lochte last competed in 2011. Phelps last competed in 2009.
