Shaun White showed no rust in his second competition since the Sochi Olympics, beating the reigning Olympic and Winter X Games champions in qualifying at the Dew Tour Mountain Championships in Breckenridge, Colo., on Thursday.
White, who finished fourth at the Sochi Winter Games and the X Games on Jan. 22, scored 95.40 points in his opening run. White landed a pair of 1080s in his run, according to commentators.
Sochi gold medalist Iouri Podladtchikov was seventh in qualifying to make the final. X Games winner Danny Davis failed to make the 12-rider final, which is Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC and NBC Sports Live Extra.
Earlier Thursday, Olympic gold and silver medalists Joss Christensen and Gus Kenworthy advanced to Sunday’s ski slopestyle final.
