Australian Olympic 100m hurdles champion Sally Pearson will go a full year between races, saying she will delay her comeback from injury until June but still hopes to defend her title in Rio, according to the Daily Telegraph.
“I would have to get my body super-ready for the [winter] indoors [season] if I wanted to win, and that’s just a stress my body is not going to be able to handle twice this year,” Pearson said, according to the report. “I know what you have to do under pressure. I know what you have to do at a major comp to win.”
Pearson took London 2012 gold in an Olympic record and then captured World Championships silver behind American Brianna Rollins in 2013.
