Maria Sharapova detailed how she tackled the day after her failed drug test announcement in a Facebook post Wednesday.
“I woke up yesterday morning with an inbox, in full capacity of love and compassion,” the post began.
Sharapova, 28 and a five-time major champion and Olympic silver medalist, is provisionally suspended pending an investigation into her Jan. 26 failed drug test for meldonium, which several Olympic sports athletes, particularly from Russia, have also tested positive for this year.
Meldonium was added to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s banned substances list this year, with WADA announcing in September that the ban would begin Jan. 1.
In her announcement Monday, Sharapova said she didn’t check an updated list of banned substances provided to her in December.
Sharapova’s eligibility for the Rio Olympics is unknown.
