The U.S. women’s water polo team gets one chance to qualify to defend its Olympic title in Rio, live on NBC Sports Live Extra at 7 a.m. ET on Saturday.

The Americans will play France or Germany in an Olympic qualifying tournament quarterfinal. The winner clinches a Rio berth. The loser is out of Olympic qualifying. Neither France nor Germany has previously qualified for an Olympic women’s water polo tournament.

The game will also air on NBCSN on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET.

The U.S. dominated group play in the Olympic qualifying tournament in the Netherlands, outscoring five opponents 80-22 to go undefeated into the quartefinal.

In 2015, the U.S. won its first World Championship in six years, adding to its reigning Olympic, World League and World Cup titles.

The U.S. is the first nation to hold all four crowns simultaneously since women’s water polo was added to the Olympic program in 2000.

The U.S. men’s water polo team qualified for Rio by winning the Pan American Games on July 15.
