Missy Franklin shares her training in Hawaii and Colorado in the first episode of a two-part GoPro series, “Finding Missy,” published Monday.
In the episode, Franklin and her parents reflect on her drawing the Olympic rings in kindergarten, qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Trials at age 12 and making her first Olympic team in 2012.
The second episode, with more on her two years at the University of California, is scheduled to be published April 25.
Franklin, 20, earned a female record six gold medals at the World Championships in 2013, but came away from the biggest meets of 2014 and 2015 with zero individual titles, suffering back spasms two days before the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships.
She could try to make the Rio Olympic team in the 100m and 200m backstrokes and 100m and 200m freestyles at the Olympic trials from June 26-July 3 in Omaha, Neb.
First, she’s scheduled to compete at a Pro Series meet in Mesa, Ariz., this week.
