Spanish tennis player Feliciano Lopez will skip the Rio Olympics, citing a focus on summer ATP tournaments in the U.S., according to his social media.

Lopez is ranked No. 23 in the world and in position to be the fourth member of a four-man Spanish singles team with Rafael Nadal (No. 5), David Ferrer (No. 9) and Roberto Bautista Agut (No. 17).

With Lopez out, No. 43 Pablo Carreno Busta is the fourth-ranked Spanish singles player.

Lopez, 34, has made four Grand Slam singles quarterfinals and lost in the third round of the 2004 and 2012 Olympics.

Lopez and Ferrer lost in the 2012 Olympic doubles bronze-medal match.

Last month, top-ranked American John Isner also said he would skip the Olympics, citing similar scheduling reasons.
