Dilma Rousseff, who was suspended as Brazil’s president last month, reportedly plans to attend the Rio Olympics, even if not specifically invited.
“If I am not invited, I will climb a tree to watch the Games,” Rousseff joked Tuesday, according to Reuters.
The Olympics open Aug. 5.
Rousseff is set for an impeachment trial, expected to run at least into mid-August, after allegedly breaking budget laws.
Before her suspension, Rousseff was set to become the third woman in four Olympics to declare the Games open. Now, Vice President Michel Temer is set to open the first Olympics in South America.Follow @nzaccardi
