Four-time Olympic figure skating medalist Yevgeny Plushenko said he will decide in the fall which competitions (if any) he enters in the 2016-17 season, according to R-Sport.

Assignments for the top-level Grand Prix Series are usually announced in late June, so Plushenko’s reported comments would mean his name won’t be on the Grand Prix entries.

However, Russia’s federation could later enter Plushenko in a Grand Prix event, like it did with 2014 Olympic champion Adelina Sotnikova last season.

Plushenko, 33, has not competed since the Sochi Olympic team event but has said he isn’t retired. He was re-added to the Russian national team last season and again for this upcoming season.

In March, it was reported that Plushenko would undergo neck surgery with a six-month recovery process. He has also dealt with back problems.
