OMAHA — The pressure of an Olympic Trials can be overwhelming. That’s where therapy dogs come in at the CenturyLink Center this week.
As reported by NBC Sports’ Michele Tafoya, USA Swimming programs and services manager Morgan Weinberg read about the benefits of therapy dogs.
“She had read that looking into a dog’s eyes can help reduce anxiety in a stressful environment,” Tafoya reported.
Weinberg called Domesti-PUPS, a Lincoln-based organization that obliged by bringing in a reported 30 dogs of varying breeds, plus handlers.
The feedback from swimmers has been positive, so this could be the start of a tradition if the Olympic Trials continue in Omaha as they have been for three straight editions.Follow @nzaccardi
