As a prelude to the unprecedented Paralympic coverage that the NBC Sports group will provide from Rio in September, NBC Olympics is set to premiere “Road to Rio: 2016 U.S. Paralympic Team Trials,” chronicling the making of this year’s U.S. Paralympic Team.
The one-hour special will air July 18 at 11 p.m. ET on NBCSN, and will be narrated by Al Trautwig.
Produced in association with the USOC, U.S. Paralympics and NASCAR Productions, the documentary will feature exclusive access to training sessions and the Paralympic Trials. Highlights include interviews with 12-time Paralympic swimming gold medalist Jessica Long, 10-time Paralympic track & field medalist Tatyana McFadden, three-time Paralympic swimming medalist Brad Snyder, three-time Paralympic track & field medalist Lex Gillette, as well as world record-holders Michelle Konkoly and David Brown.
Then, starting Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. ET, NBC Olympics will combine to present more than 70 hours of coverage of the Rio Paralympic Games across NBC, NBCSN and the NBC Sports app. In addition, the USOC will have live online coverage at TeamUSA.org.
The Rio Paralympics run from September 7-18 and will be the biggest Paralympics ever, featuring more than 4,000 athletes competing in 22 sports.
