American teenager Carlos Balderas is off to a good start in Rio, winning his Round of 32 fight by unanimous decision on Saturday.
Lightweight boxer Balderas, 19, handled Kazakhstan fighter Berik Abdrakhmanov, 30, to the tune of a 3-0 decision in what should be considered a significant upset.

Balderas started boxing at age 7 as a way to get his act together after getting in some trouble outside of the gym.
He’ll next fight Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. ET. The opponent is Daisuke Narimatsu of Japan.
