Lilly King finishes fifth in her heat, but her time ended up being just enough to get to the semifinals of the 200m breaststroke.

King’s 2:25.89 was three-plus seconds off Heat 2 leader Rikke Moller Pederson of Denmark.

Fortunately, she earned a lane in the semifinal, finishing 15th of 16 swimmers.

Fellow American swimmer Molly Hannis swam the 12th best time to qualify for the final, while Russian rival Yulia Efimova finishes eighth.
