No alarms and no surprises here: Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte posted great times and are onto the semifinals of the 200m individual medley.
Lochte hit the top spot, cruising to a 1:57.38 in his first individual swim of Rio 2016, while Germany’s Philip Heintz was right behind him.
Phelps was third, the morning after winning a pair of dramatic golds, and wasted very little effort in posting a 1:58.41.
The semifinals are tonight, and can be streamed here beginning at 9 p.m. EDT.
