Katie Ledecky sure can swim.

The American star blazed a new Olympic record in the 800m freestyle, clocking in at 8:12.6 to break the record set by Great Britain’s Rebecca Adlington in 2008.

The Final is Friday, and Ledecky will be joined by Leah Smith in the final.

In other USA Swimming news, Nathan Adrian and Anthony Ervin easily cruised into the 50m semifinals.

Tom Shields and Michael Phelps are onto the semis of the 100m buttery fly after swimming the third- and fourth-fastest times of the preliminaries, respectively.

Singapore’s Joseph Schooling swam the fastest time, Hungary’s Laszlo Cseh was second, and South Africa’s Chad Le Close sits seventh.
