Two Americans contending for medals before final round of women’s golf

After three rounds of play, two of the three Americans in the women’s golf tournament have a serious chance of getting a medal.

Gerina Piller fired a 68 on Friday to move into a tie for second, while Stacy Lewis double bogeyed the 18th to drop from fifth to eighth at 4-under.

World No. 1 Lydia Ko (New Zealand) is tied with Piller at 9-under, two strokes back of leader Inbee Park of South Korea.

Top ranked American golfer Lexi Thompson bumbled her way to a 76 and is tied for 21st.

World Top Five golfer Ariya Jutanugarn withdrew with a knee injury.
