Twenty-one years old and two gold medals? The future is bright for American boxer Claressa Shields.
The No. 1 seed, Shields was fighting her third bout of these Olympics Games, and the Netherlands’s Nouchka Fontijn was her opponent.
Shields won every round on every judge’s card en route to gold in women’s middleweight boxing, then taking several laps around the outside of the ring with an American flag before giving a must-see exuberant post-fight interview with NBC’s Chris Mannix.

The first of four gold medal bouts on Sunday in Rio, Shields took the first round on all judges’ cards.
While Fontijn landed a couple good shots in the first round, Shields really asserted control in the second. The youngster landed some powerful shots, while entertaining in defense.
Oliver Kirk won gold in two weight classes in 1904, and is the only other U.S. boxer to claim a pair of golds.
