Tserenbaatar Tsogbayar and Byambarinchen Bayaraa, the Mongolian wrestling coaches who memorably stripped to protest a referee’s decision at the 2016 Olympics, have been suspended for three years, according to The Associated Press.
The two coaches removed their clothes after the referees awarded the 65 kg freestyle wrestling bronze medal to Uzbekistan’s Ikhtiyor Navruzov instead of Mongolia’s Ganzorig Mandakhnaran (VIDEO).
Tsostbayar and Bayaraa will not be able to coach at an international competition until August 2019. The Tokyo Olympics are scheduled to begin July 2020.
United World Wrestling also fined Mongolia’s national wrestling federation 50,000 Swiss francs, or about $51,000.Follow @srubinroit
