Olympian Jamie Nieto took steps with the aid of a walker in a video published by TMZ on Thursday, nearly six months after an accident left him paralyzed from the neck down.

Nieto, an Olympic high jumper in 2004 and 2012 known for backflip celebrations, hit his head attempting a backflip while coaching in April and underwent spine surgery.

“I slipped doing a flip,” Nieto said in April. “My disc in my neck slipped and hit the nerve and paralyzed me. I could still feel my body, but it was numb and tingling, but I couldn’t move.”
