Usain Bolt‘s relationship with his godson is the focus of a two-minute clip from “I am Bolt,” the movie about the nine-time Olympic champion hitting theaters Nov. 28.
Bolt’s executive manager is Nugent “NJ” Walker, whom Bolt has known since age 6. Walker’s son, Nugent Junior, is Bolt’s godson.
“Everybody always asks me, like, yo, be the godfather of my kid,” Bolt said. “The first kid I’m going to be a godfather to has to be NJ’s kid.”
Bolt said he tries to be part of his godson’s life on a daily basis.
“He’s actually smiling at me now,” Bolt said. “He never used to smile at me.”
It was announced in February 2015 that British filmmakers Fulwell 73 would follow Bolt en route to his final Olympics and planned 2017 retirement for a feature-length documentary.
Bolt was previously documented in the 2012 film, “Usain Bolt: The Fastest Man Alive.”Follow @nbcolympictalk
