Simone Manuel handed Katie Ledecky her first loss in a freestyle final longer than 100 meters since Jan. 18, 2014, on Saturday night.

The Stanford teammates and Olympic champions dueled in a 200-yard freestyle at an NCAA meet at Ohio State.

Manuel clocked 1:41.90, holding off a charging Ledecky by .26 of a second. Full results are here.

Manuel won the 100m free in Rio. Ledecky won the 200m, 400m and 800m frees in Rio.

Quick research through USA Swimming’s database shows Ledecky had won at least 70 straight (74 by a hand count) freestyle finals longer than 100 meters (meters or yards) going into Saturday night.

Her last defeat in a freestyle final of that distance was in a 200m freestyle to Allison Schmitt on Jan. 18, 2014.
