President-elect Donald Trump and International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach spoke about the Olympics and Los Angeles’ bid for the 2024 Games on Wednesday.
Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti arranged the call.
Trump “expressed his strong support” for the Olympics and LA 2024, according to LA 2024.
Last week, Trump expressed support for the bid in a phone call with Garcetti, according to the mayor’s press secretary.
The previous week, Allyson Felix addressed the U.S. presidential election in a speech on behalf of LA 2024 to IOC and National Olympic Committee members.
Los Angeles is bidding against Budapest and Paris for the 2024 Olympics. IOC members will vote to choose the host city in September. The U.S. is in the midst of its longest stretch between hosting Olympics (Summer or Winter) since the 28-year gap between 1932 and 1960.
